I've always been a cowgirl at heart. I had several horses growing up and still love horses at the ripe young age of 56. One of the things I've always wanted to see is wild horses. Well today, I had the opportunity. Last week we traveled from New York to Montana to see our new grandson, Lucas, and today we took a day trip to Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Preserve in Lovell, Wyoming. When we arrived at the visitor center we were told there had been no sightings for the day. But a few miles into the preserve, we saw three young males.
They were beautiful. The picture doesn't do justice to these magnificent animals. Young bachelor horses usually roam in small groups of two to five horses and are very playful with each other. I could not believe their beauty. I pictured them to be rough looking with scars, etc. However, they have not fought for a mare yet.
We didn't see any wild burros or big horn sheep, but I was completely satisfied with the viewing of wild horses.
Now I just need to get to a quilt shop or two or three while on vacation.
Until we quilt again,
