An Update on a WIP

Goodnight Irene Quilt, which is a sixteen patch alternating with X squares.

Fabric: Scrumptious by Bonnie and Camille for Moda.
Size: Currently 57X57 inches.  I will probably add another row vertically and add borders.
Recipient:  Keeping this quilt for myself.

Auditioning fabrics for Ella (great niece).  Pattern to be determined.  I will probably do a square in a square pattern or maybe just add borders to the charm squares.

Bad picture, which was taken with my IPad.  I think I had way too much coffee this morning.  It's about 10:30 AM and I finished off a ten-cup pot.  The fabric line is Lazy Day (Riley Blake) and some basic colors from Connecting Threads.  I can't believe I throw fabric on the floor to audition material.  I'm not planning on using all of the blue fabric, just deciding which one to use.

Have a great day!

Just Can't Decide ...

I always have a difficult time with fabric selections and finding a pattern that is "just right" for a particular person.  Ambivalence should be my middle name, or maybe vacillate.  I go back and forth between fabrics and change my mind a zillion times.  I found a fabric with chickens and a fabric with funky birds, which I definitely will use.  GB began raising chickens for a school project and now the entire family love the chickens and fresh eggs.

Fabric choices

It's not a great picture as it was taken with my Ipad.  Lazy, I know.   And now to find a pattern; I think something with a modern twist.  Any ideas?

Until we quilt again,

A New Blog

Quilting took over my life about two years ago so I thought a blog would help to keep track of my quilts.  I had never sewn or owned a sewing machine prior to quilting.  I am truly amazed and inspired by all the wonderful and talented quilters that are bloggers.

A little bit about me....
  • I have never made a quilt that has a star.
  • I am drawn to modern quilts.
  • I've only kept one quilt for myself: a lap quilt which was the first quilt that I made.
  • My first and all subsequent quilts have been free motion quilted by me.
  • My sister introduced me to quilting and we are quite the dichotomy: she likes traditional quilts and I like modern.
  • I want the quilts I make to be used daily.  There's nothing better than a well worn quilt with which to snuggle.
  • I do not make keepsake quilts nor do I label the quilts because they are far from perfect.
  • I quilt for fun and enjoyment.
  • I do not want a big fabric stash.  I have a ginormous yarn stash from when I was an avid knitter.
  • I finish every quilt and keep my WIPs (work in progress) at a manageable number: two.  I go crazy if I have more than two quilts in progress.  I do not like unfinished projects.  Okay... maybe I'm a little OCD in that regard.

Well that's enough about me; I'd love to get to know you.

It's time to quilt!
